I love Paris and I would go there at the drop of a hat. So when I had to go to Europe recently on a business trip, I figured out a way to end it in Paris.

I just visited the city of Basel and saw several hotels. Even though a lot of the hotel sales person we spoke to told us they were sold out during Art Basel, they did say we should send them specific requests for rooms. Hotels which impressed us were:
IHOTEL EULER – http://www.hoteleuler.ch They just finished a complete refurbishment of the hotel and it looks gorgeous; with well appointed rooms and bathrooms. Room rates during Art Basel will be 550 CHF for a large single room with a queen bed or 700 CHF for a double king bedded room. It is less than 10 mins. to the convention center via tram which stops right in front of the hotel and the exhibition center.
HOTEL KRAFT – http://www.kraftbasel.ch Historic hotel overlooking the Rhine, just 5 minutes tram ride to the Convention center. Very large rooms with brand new bathrooms, some rooms with a balcony. We will have rates and availability in January.
We now have a good contact at the SWISSOTEL LE PLAZA and RAMADA PLAZA so we can request rooms directly with them. None of these hotels will pay us a remuneration, therefore, we will charge a non refundable, one time booking fee of $150 for rooms confirmed at the above mentioned hotels.

There is a large gymnasium, Finnish Sauna and steam room in the lower floor and a Solarium on the roof.
There is a cocktail bar «Timeless» and a restaurant «Filou» which offers regional and international delicacies with fresh ingredients from the local market Stunning views over Basel from the 30th storey «SkyLounge».
A streetcar station is located directly in front of the hotel. In only 5 minutes you reach the autobahn, in 7 minutes you are at the Swiss Train Station SBB/SNCF.
DEPOSIT / CANCELLATION
This hotel has given us their lowest rate possible, therefore, deleting the standard commission due us. A charge will be collected once the reservations are confirmed - $150 for stays less than 7 nights and $175 for stays 7 nights or more. This charge is non refundable.
The Ramada Plaza, following the practice of all other hotels in Basel during the Art Fair, require full non-refundable payment by TBA.

The Dorint Basel is a 3 star business hotel offering 171 rooms. It is three blocks from Messe Basel, the trade fair ground and congress center. It is 1 km from the highway and 20 minutes by tram from the city center. Above rates include buffet breakfast, service charge. It does not include the city tax of 3.20CHF per person, per night. Each additional person/bed in the room will be charged 100 CHF. There is a 4 night minimum stay
DEPOSIT / CANCELLATION
Exact dates for your stay must be fixed by April 6. After this date, the hotel will charge 100% of the mentioned rate for cancellations, no shows and early departures. The hotel requires a completed registration card with credit card authorization by May 12. Your credit card will be charged for full payment two weeks prior to arrival. Name changes will be accepted, only in writing, and exclusively through Altour (the hotel will not accept direct changes or cancellations), a $50 administrative fee will be assessed.
